West Orillia Sports Complex

Envision-Tatham designed and oversaw construction of the 10.5 hectare West Orillia Sports Complex, a new community park in the City of Orillia that is home to the Rotary Place Arena (twin pad) and a competitive outdoor sports complex. The site plan centralizes a large naturalized storm water pond as visual and ecological focus, creating connections to the arena and outdoor facilities through trails and viewsheds. Further to the Rotary Place Arena, the park features a soccer field house with washrooms, a lit artificial turf multi-purpose field (soccer, football, and rugby), natural turf senior and junior soccer pitches, four lit tennis courts, an accessible playground, passive green space, shade pavilion, trails, and parking. As a LEED Silver initiative, environmental fit, water conservation, xeriscape planting, and the provision of pedestrian, bicycle, and transit infrastructure were primary objectives.
