The Cottages of Lora Bay

The Cottages of Lora Bay (formally Village of Keepers Cove) was designed by Envision-Tatham as a quaint adult lifestyle community situated on the shores of Georgian Bay in Thornbury. The goal of the project was to transform the infrastructure of an existing trailer park into a vibrant, healthy and affordable community for retirees that consists of 212 condominium homes. This involved the re-organization of existing infrastructure to focus on green open space corridors that link the waterfront and residences to a central Recreation Facility that forms the focal and social hub of the community. The major accomplishment of the master plan was our success in establishing the homes around an integrated open space network, celebrating the community’s entrance with a terraced  storm water feature and waterfalls, and creating intimate community focused spaces. The result is a unique hamlet integrated within the larger Lora Bay community that sets itself apart as a relatively affordable waterfront option in the Georgian Triangle market. The Cottages of Lora Bay demonstrates that affordable communities can be developed with quality, through careful and considered design.
