Dunlop Street Environmental Assessment, Barrie

Envision-Tatham was retained by the City of Barrie’s Engineering department to assist with the design and visualization component of the Dunlop St. Environmental Assessment (EA) in 2014.  Given the importance of this core downtown street to the Barrie community, City staff wanted to ensure that the various options contemplated through the EA were graphically represented in a public-friendly format. Based on our experience and expertise in streetscape design, Envision-Tatham prepared design concepts for the various Dunlop St. alternatives, which included Status Quo, Flexible Street, One-way and Pedestrian Promenade options. Furthermore, the study also considered the effect of each option on local traffic, which resulted in similar visualizations for Collier St.  The Collier St. alternatives included Status Quo, 2-lanes with Parking and Bike Lanes, and 4-lanes with Bike Lanes only. Each alternative for both Dunlop St. and Collier St. were demonstrated through realistic 3-dimensional renderings, which were included in the final EA Report and used to engage the public.
